Bio

Joel Bejot is a full-time professional musician, working with groups of all ages and abilities, and performing works across the spectrum of organ, piano, and vocal music. Joel has held Directors of Music positions at institutions in New York, Michigan, Nebraska, Colorado, and Idaho, and has recently been on the faculty at the Sun Valley Summer Symphony Institute. He has also recently been Music Director for two children’s theater productions: Willy Wonka, Jr., and Aristocats, Kids.

Joel has directed amateur and semi-professional choirs, chamber orchestras, bands, drumming ensembles, handbell choirs, keyboardists, and others. He has directed music for Sunday services, weddings, funerals, recital series, as well as informal events.

Mr. Bejot is an accomplished organist. He has studied with Dr. Charles Ore, Dr. Jeffrey Blersch, Steven Egler, and Dr. Joe Galema. He holds degrees in music from Concordia University, Nebraska, and the University of Denver. He has performed solo recitals in New York, Michigan, Nebraska, Colorado, and Idaho, and has led services on the organ in seven denominations.

Joel is a collaborative pianist, having worked with widely varying groups and individuals. He has accompanied vocal soloists, groups, and coachings, and various instruments.

Mr. Bejot is an accomplished choral singer, having sung with collegiate groups and chamber choirs in three states. He has sung tenor, baritone, and bass in works across the classical spectrum of choral music, from Bach to Whitacre.

Joel feels passionate about instilling a sense of wonder about music with all his students. He has worked with piano, organ, voice, and percussion students for the past 10 years.

Joel lives in Hailey, Idaho, with his beautiful wife, three daughters, two cats, eight chickens, and one fish. He loves working with his hands outside in the garden or on our ’78 VW camper Bus, and the hiking, biking, and camping opportunities in central Idaho are limitless. Stop by for a visit!
